The challenge
Akarana Golf Club approached StaySafe HomePlus for a security solution for its new bar. The club needed a system that would secure the space properly while suiting the look of the new fit-out.
The bar needed three separate grille sections, each able to operate on its own or together with the others. An opening ceremony was already booked, so the installation had to be finished to a tight deadline and coordinated around the other trades still working on site.
The solution
We supplied and installed three motorised Knightguard Ultra security grilles. They give the club a strong visual deterrent after hours while keeping visibility and airflow through the space at all times.
The grilles were positioned to meet at the bar countertop, which meant careful placement of the tracks and removable corner sections so the whole bar could be enclosed and locked when the grilles came down.
The system was configured so all three grilles can run together or independently, which gives the club the flexibility it needs for day to day trading.
Installation and technical considerations
The install needed close coordination with the other contractors. Timing was planned so we could get access to install the grille tracks while the bar countertop and the surrounding work were being completed.
The motors were the awkward part. A sloping ceiling left limited space to work in, so our team manoeuvred the components into position by hand and selected a motor with enough capacity for the weight of the grilles, so they run reliably rather than straining.
The remote controls were then synchronised so the three grilles can be operated together when the bar closes, while each one can still be controlled on its own.
The result
The project was completed in time for the opening of the new bar.
The finished installation secures the bar outside operating hours without closing the space in. The bar still reads as open and welcoming, and it keeps its visibility and ventilation.
It is a good example of what we can do where the layout is complex, the timeframe is tight, and the work has to fit around other trades.
